Weeds were growing underneath the existing paving; this had caused the slabs to lift. We removed it, cleared the ground underneath from weeds and stones and sprayed it with a weed killer. We created a step by digging the ground and laying concrete. We then laid the Pavestone Opus Porcelain Paving in Groeningen; this type of paving is resistant to sunlight and compliments the colour of the house by creating a nice contrast that draws the attention to the patio.

We created two raised planted beds that nicely frame the front garden, making it cosy. These were built using cedar wood, which provides a natural resistance to rotten and insects.

We filled the planter beds with gravel which provides a good barrier for weeds. Bigger gravel was also added in front of one of the planted, and between the house and the paving; this works as an attractive and durable edging material.
